The Latest from Alex & Courtney

This was taken from their site:

Updates as of Sunday, August 10th, 2008

I just spoke with my mom and sisters. Andrew is in stable condition and still in a coma. This week we hope to move him to a hospital in St. Louis. Tomorrow he will be going through another operation for his other leg.

From Courtney:
Hello, all. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers, and support. I'm Drew's oldest sister. I spoke to my mom a little while ago. Drew continues to be stable. His head pressure has not changed so they are going to remove the ICP monitor this evening. She spoke to the neurosurgeon and he said it may be a couple of weeks before Drew wakes up, but is positive he will wake. The orthopedic said Drew's bones will heal with good care. Ironically, they will heal faster because of his brain injury. I'll try to keep you all updated. Again, thank you. Courtney

Good Morning,
Drew continues to be stable. He has a small fever this morning so they will be concentrating on keeping him cooled down today with Tylenol and cooling blankets.

For all you girls who loved his hair, they will finish shaving, as my husband puts it his "sexy mop," off today. He was looking a little like bozo the clown after they shaved the top front to put the monitor on. Its for the best anyway... easier to wash.

Trauma team will round tomorrow at 7 am. I'll keep you updated.

Again, thank you for your prayers.

Status Update

The current news on Drew is that he does have two broken legs, arms, hips and 3 broken ribs (not 5 as we originally thought). He had surgery on his leg and they plan to do more surgery on Monday. The results of the CAT scan are in and there is some concern about the results. Still no word on how it happened.

The Story

Perhaps this is the story about Drew: http://gcdailyworld.com/story/1450767.html

Drew's been in an accident

Drew Vetor has been in a car accident. Apparently Drew was driving home alone from KY on August 6th after visiting a friend. At some point in Indiana he crossed a grassy median and was hit by an oncoming 18-wheeler. Emergency personnel responded and Drew was airlifted to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana, which specializes in head trauma. He is currently suffering from serious injuries including two broken legs, both broken hips, broken right wrist, broken left forearm and has punctured his lungs. He is on medication and the doctors have now lowered the dosage but he is still in a medically induced coma. He is wearing a head monitor as well as he has had a CAT scan to check for brain damage but there is no news on that very real possibility. Latest report says that Drew has responded with "performed and purposeful movement" which means he has pulled at his medical tubes and pushed away when touched. Please keep Drew in your thoughts and prayers at this time. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted once I receive any information.
